Thames Valley Region of the Goldwing Owners Club (GB)

Next Meeting Date:- 8pm, 18th August 2010

Who are we and what are we trying to achieve? We hear that so often, so this is our attempt to promote ourselves and the good works we try to do in the Thames Valley area.

We are a group of like minded individuals that form a local region within the national club - GoldWing Owners Club of Great Britain (GWOCGB) we are based in the South of England. Our 'formal' title is Thames Valley GoldWing Owners Club of Great Britain (TVGWOCGB) but within the club we tend to use the 'informal' Thames Valley Wings (TVWings). Much more easy on the eye don't you think!

TVWings were one of the original regions formed by our much respected former president of the GWOCGB, Mr Harry Ward. Harry was one of the people who brought the first Goldwing into the UK and had a passion for Friendship rarely seen in other Bike Clubs. It started with a few friends who owned Wings and has grown into the family region it is today.

Thames Valley is made up of a strong group of friends with bikes ranging from the GL1000 to the GL1800. We have members who still like to camp and attend Wingdings whatever the weather and those who like to just ride the bikes when its warm and Sunny.

note: A Wingding is when a region organises a weekend of camping (or local hotel) and activities for every other region to attend if they wish.

Thames Valley put on a Wingding usually on a bi-annual basis . However we are planning another for 2010. Why not become a member and come along to this and all the other events we enjoy. I'm sure you'll get hooked, as we all did.

Fancy becoming a member? You will always be made welcome. Just click the link to download the New Members Application form and send it to the specified address at the top of the page. Your application will be processed and your membership will be on its way to you at the earliest opportunity.

As the region has grown, more and more members like the idea of staying in Hotels rather than camping so we try to also cater for this with informal trips away to various areas of the UK.

The thing to remember is that as a member of the GWOCGB you are encouraged to come along to the regional meetings, rides out and organised weekends away, all at no extra cost - with the exception of the hotel weekends of course.

The region has members who have been around Goldwing's for 25 years and know them inside out and those who have only a couple of years experience and like to do no more than ride their bikes.

We are a relaxed region who meet in Arborfield, Nr Reading on the LAST Wednesday of the month roughly between 7:30pm and 10pm. You can join in and do as little or as much as you want to do

To find us just click on the Map. British Legion Location

We have several Women riders in the region attending on 'Goldwing Trikes' as well as young riders of 18 and 19 years of age who have grown up with the Goldwing scene.

Making long term friendships and socialising is a large part of being a Thames Valley member so drop an email to the Regional Rep or give them a call (see REP on Committee page for details) and come along to the next meeting. We'll do our best to make you welcome.

Feel free to send us an email, telling us what you think of our web site including what you would like to see and what interests you as a Winger.

NB: When attending the meetings on your Wing, please refrain from switching on any Show Lights until your bike is stationary in the club car Park.

Remember, it is a shared club so please be courteous to other patrons.
